Dar es Salaam
Although Dodoma is known as a new capital of Tanzania most oof the
activties of the capital city are nstill retained in Dar es salaam.This
is a sea port forming an important route to Zanzibar and is connectd
to many harbours of the Indian ocean.
It ha s apopulation of about 4 million people. The major occupation
of the people are macro to micro business, civil workers and private
sector employee, harbour, industrial and fishing. Around the periphery
of the city subsistence agriculture and poultry contributing a substantial
food suply to the citybut main supply iis coming from the cenral
and southern regions. The construction of the city itself is a mix
of Swahili, British, German, Asian and Arabic architecture, reflecting
its colonial past and more recent history. Mafority of the people
are Moslems in religion followed by Christians.All the people in
Dar es salaam can speak and write in Kiswahili and almost all employee
can speak English as a second official language .The whole city
is shining with multiple small to mediumu hotels and restautrants
and few large and luxurius hotels comparable to those in the developed
countries.
